Flame Retardants

Flame retardants are added to achieve a given flame rating for a plastic or to help a finished structure pass a given flame test. Washington Penn has expertise in all flame retardant chemistries known to be effective in polyolefins, including brominated systems, established non-halogenated systems like magnesium hydroxide, as well as emerging technologies. Common applications for flame retardant products are building and construction, appliance, electronics, wire and cable, and industrial goods.
