Washington Penn Plastic Co.(WPP), compounder of mineral filled and glass reinforced polypropylene materials and TPO compounds will be attending the Plastimagen exhibition in Mexico City on October 4 -7, 2011. As a global leader of automotive polyolefin’s and TPO Compounds, Washington Penn Plastic Co. is a Gold Sponsor of the 2011 Society of Plastics TPO Conference being held on October 2-5, 2011 at the Marriott Hotel in Troy, MI. Important and innovative topics of discussion covering the issues affecting material selection in the automotive industry will be focused on during the 3 day conference. Over 400 of the key decision making authorities typically attend this conference where applications, economics, and market trends are discussed. Separate automotive application sessions will be held for Material Development, Advanced Polyolefin Compounds Surface Enhancements for High Quality Parts, Application Development, and Polyolefin Foams and Advancements in Process Developments. Washington Penn Plastic Develops New Rotational Molding Products

Washington Penn Plastic Co., Inc. has developed two new specialty compounds for rotational molding applications.

The first is a polyethylene compound that provides roto-molders the ability to reduce part thickness, improve process consistency, and achieve improved lot-to-lot color uniformity when compared to dry blended powder.

Washington Penn Plastic Co., also has developed flame retardant materials with the same advantages mentioned above.

Both of these grades are available in custom colors, and with custom additive packages to match a given application. These products have been successful in a variety of industrial and consumer applications including materials for kayaks, storage tanks, playground equipment, and lawn and garden Custom formulations using Washington Penn’s color, filler, and additive technologies are currently being developed for other markets where these attributes will help molders overcome product performance and processing issues. WPP Invests in Additional Sample Line Capacity

Washington Penn Plastic Co. has recently ordered two additional sample scale extruders that will enhance our ability to turn around sample requests. The investment reaffirms our understanding that our core business as a custom compounder of polypropylene is centered on the ability to respond to our customer’s and prospect’s developmental requirements. The two small compounding lines will be outfitted with the full complement of additive feeders, stuffers, and pellitizers such that the lines can produce a wide variety of glass filled polypropylene, mineral filled polyolefin, TPO and other rubber modified polyolefin compounds. The lines should be delivered in July, with an expectation of being operational in September.
